About Celtic Progression.

We aim to provide special needs students and others an equivalent experience as the Gaeltacht experience in terms of the experience of living away from home in a secure and structured environment as part of their development. The focus is on the “Right of Passage” element that special needs people often find much more difficult to obtain.

There is a significant breath of difference between people with special needs, with some not needing any intervention on a daily basis and others needing medical and other life-saving support ready at all times.

The Special Olympics does a great job of balancing up the scales for participants with a wide variety of abilities so that all participants feel included and appreciated for their attempts. We would hope the Celtic experience will provide a rich “right of Passage” for individuals that are of “the same” abilities (in so far as is possible).

Getting Started

In the first instance we would like to get a programme put in place to establish the structure focusing on individuals who need the least amount of assistance for the duration of two weeks.

Once established successfully we would like to expand the opportunity to other specifically Identified groups. For example what we mean by this is that we would like to get a group of 100 approx. individuals with mild Downs Syndrome and build the programme around them. Then we might select a group of 100 individuals who operate needing the use of wheelchairs etc… Over time we would like to expand this to creating as many groups as may be created on the platform that we are developing.

We are hoping that we could bring together people that could help to develop our approach to generate appropriate programmes for the individual groups that are identified.

First Steps.

The first step we are taking is to set up this platform that is GDPR compliant and which will outline of basic approach and then make it available to a number of individuals who we believe can help us (with their advice but very little work) to structure this environment in an appropriate manner.

We have identified a set of basic questions that we feel is necessary to identify and create the relevant groups and the requirements that we might need to take into account.

Please help us to refine this?

If there are additional questions that might be able to contribute to the groups being more effective, we would appreciate if you could provide them in the sections provided.

As a parent of a child with Down Syndrome it can be hard to identify and avail of what we feel is necessary for our child we would hope this platform can help us to make that a bit easier and collegiate.
